Literature Night 28 March

Pirkko Saisio’s novel The Smallest Shared Dividend (1998) presents modern Finnish literature in Literature Night in Budapest on March 28th. For the fourth year in a row, EUNIC organizes the Night of Literature in cooperation with the excellent Radnóti Theater. The event will take place in various – and often unusual – locations around district VI. The actors of Radnóti Theater will be reading hand-picked works of European authors in Hungarian for the audience.

This year, for the first time, the event will also be organized in Debrecen, together with the Csokonai Theater. Thus, in both cities, theater and literary enthusiasts can enjoy an unforgettable experience and get to know some of the great authors of European literature.

The Smallest Shared Dividend was translated to Hungarian last year. Saisio’s novel describes childhood memories in Helsinkin in the 1950’s and is the first part of an autobiographical trilogy.

In Budapest, actor Gabi Borbás reads extracts from the novel in Gyermekház Iskola (Bajza utca 26) from 7 p.m.

In Debrecen, actor Ibolya Mészáros reads in HedgeHair Cut & Coffee (Hal köz 3, 4025 Debrecen) from 7 p.m.

Each reading will take approx. 30 minutes.
