Finnish White Light

tuohi_panel

Finnish White Light is Anttila’s first-ever solo exhibition in Hungary. The exhibition concentrates on Anttila’s light-fitting designs for the Keraplast Interior collection. Also exhibited will be a wall panel from the Tuohi (‘birch bark’) product series. Tapio Anttila´s exhibition is part of Budapest design week 2011 program.

The Finnish White Light exhibition is made possible by an invitation from Finnagora. The exhibition will be held at the gallery of the Association of Hungarian Architects until 9.10.2011.

The theme of the Finnish White Light exhibition arises from the long dark Nordic nights during autumn and winter. white_light_opening_web2They have inspired Anttila to design light fittings that glow in white and to design objects that make use of the striking variations in colour and pattern in birch bark. “There is something captivating and fascinating about darkness. Light requires darkness to be seen; whiteness, again, reinforces light and makes it more solid,” says Anttila.

Tapio Anttila gave also a presentation about his exhibition in Design meetup. Meetups was in Gödör Club 2.10.2011 starting at 19.00.
