Finnagora, in cooperation with the Department of Romology of the University of Pécs and the Roma Education Fund, is organizing a seminar to promote international cooperation of experts on education of Roma children and networking of Hungarian and Finnish partners. The seminar will be held in Pécs 29-30 September.

The seminar will discuss the challenges of Roma education and good practices in Hungary and Finland. Special attention will be focused on the promotion of the equality of Roma students and the improvement of learning conditions by developing the learning environment and materials. Means to support Roma students to use their mother tongue in school will also be investigated.

The participants of the seminar will take a field trip to the village of Kétújfalu to see the conditions and learning environment of the local Roma children.

The seminar is part of a series on Roma issues organized by Finnagora in 2011: the seminar in March discussed the social situation of the Roma in Finland and Hungary, the Roma policies in both countries and the Roma strategy of the European Union.
